  • The Headhunters Daughter

Ajyal Competition - Ajyal Film Festival 2022

Lynn leaves her family behind to traverse the harrowing roads of the Cordilleran highlands in the Philippines, to try her luck in the city as a country singer. Motivated not by money or fame, she simply wants her voice to be heard and the chance to appear on television so her father might see her perform. Laden with vestiges of American colonialism, this Sundance awarded short is a haunting ballad about the erosion and ultimate replacement of indigenous cultural traditions.

Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan / Philippines / Short Narrative

  • Rest In Piece

Ajyal Competition - Ajyal Film Festival 2022

Amidst a cacophony of shelling, Midyan is forced to flee his war-torn home. Packing only a suitcase of his dearest possessions, he embarks on a perilous journey into the unknown. Weary and starving in a desolate wasteland, poor Midyan resorts to eating the objects he has packed. The effects are monstrous, yet they give him the strength to carry on through the scorching desert. A beautifully crafted clay animation, ‘Rest in Piece’ shows us the courage and resilience of displaced peoples.

Antoine Antabi / Germany, France, Qatar / Short Narrative
